Boseong-gun Achieves Top Employment Growth Rate in Jeonnam According to Statistics Korea Announcement
Top-Level Performance in All Employment Indicators Shows Continuous Increase Since the First Half of 2018
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Yong-chul] On the 27th, Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it ranked first in the employment growth rate category within Jeollanam-do according to the Statistics Korea's "2020 First Half Regional Employment Survey: Major Employment Indicators by City and County."
According to the indicators, Boseong-gun's employment rate was 68.7% in 2019 and rose by 1.6% to 70.3% in the first half of 2020, showing the highest increase in Jeollanam-do. The employment rate of 70.3% in the first half of 2020 ranked 4th within the province.
In particular, the long-term employment rate trend in Boseong-gun has continuously shown an upward trend since the first half of 2018, when Statistics Korea began compiling data based on population estimates from the registered census.
Additionally, the employment rate for those aged 15 to 65 was 74.1%, and the economic activity participation rate was 69.9%, increasing by 7.2% and 4.8% respectively compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate decreased by 1.5% from 1.7% the previous year to 0.2%, reflecting improvements in the employment environment across all indicators.
A county official stated, "The improvement in the indicators appears to have been positively influenced by various local economic revitalization policies implemented by the county, securing large-scale national budget allocations, and attracting investments."
County Governor Kim Cheol-woo said, "Boseong-gun has been responding with a two-track strategy to block local transmission of COVID-19 and revive the economy," adding, "I am pleased that these indicators reflect our efforts so far, and we will focus not only on the employment rate but also on the quality of employment."

Meanwhile, Statistics Korea announced the "2020 First Half Regional Employment Survey: Major Employment Indicators by City and County" on the 25th. It compiles major employment indicators for cities and counties in nine provinces, excluding eight special and metropolitan cities, and publishes the results semiannually every year.
