The Criminal Division 1 of the Seoul High Court (Presiding Judge Jeong Jun-young) held a hearing on the objection case regarding the trial procedure requested by the former president on the 26th and concluded the hearing that day. However, considering that the Supreme Court is currently reviewing related administrative lawsuits concerning the public auction of the Itaewon villa in Jung-gu, Seoul, and land in Osan, Gyeonggi Province, which were owned by the former president's family, the court decided to hold further hearings on those matters later. Due to the nature of the case, the court plans to notify the prosecution and the former president's side individually of the decision as soon as it is made, without setting a separate date to announce the conclusion.
This case began when the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office applied for the public auction of the Yeonhui-dong residence in 2018, prompting the former president's side to file an objection. Former President Jeon has argued that enforcing the collection of the 220.5 billion won in fines imposed by a past Supreme Court ruling on assets registered under his wife Lee Soon-ja's name is illegal. The Yeonhui-dong residence, consisting of four land parcels and two buildings, was registered as a public auction item at the prosecution's request but failed to sell several times.

Despite the former president's side's objections, the prosecution's efforts to recover the fines continue. The Crime Proceeds Recovery Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Park Kwang-hyun) announced that through the public auction of forest land in Anyang-si, Gyeonggi Province, registered under the name of the former president's eldest daughter, they recovered an additional 1.01051 billion won on the 21st. The remaining unpaid amount is 99.1 billion won, marking the first time it has fallen below the 100 billion won threshold.
