Police Arrest Man in His 50s for Assaulting Bus Driver Who Asked for Mask Wearing
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A man in his 50s who assaulted a bus driver demanding proper mask-wearing and also attacked a passenger trying to intervene has been apprehended by the police.
On the 26th, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul announced that they have arrested Mr. A on the spot and are investigating him on charges including assaulting a driver under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
Mr. A is accused of pulling the mask and hitting the face of a bus driver who was instructing passengers to wear masks properly while Mr. A was on a city bus near Jamsil Bridge in Jamsil-dong at around 10:20 p.m. on the 25th. He is also charged with assaulting another passenger who tried to stop him and was attempting to report the incident to the police by trying to snatch the passenger’s phone and scratching their face.
