Mando Develops Ventilator for COVID-19 in Collaboration with NASA
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] Automotive parts manufacturer Mando is collaborating with the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to develop ventilators for patients with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
On the 24th, Mando announced that it was selected as the only Asian company to partner in the ventilator development project under NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
The ventilators developed by Mando are intended for personal use rather than fixed hospital equipment. Due to their short production time and easy installation, they can be used in makeshift hospitals or as emergency devices.
It is reported that Mando's malfunction normalization technology (redundancy system) was recognized in the selection process. This is an emergency function that automatically operates when existing vehicle systems fail and is essential for autonomous vehicle production.
