Gochang-gun Asan-myeon, Gong-eum-myeon, and Seongsong-myeon Included in Special Disaster Area
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Asan-myeon, Gong-eum-myeon, and Seongsong-myeon in Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk have been designated as special disaster zones.
According to Gochang-gun on the 24th, President Moon Jae-in designated 20 cities, counties, and districts nationwide, including Asan-myeon, Gong-eum-myeon, and Seongsong-myeon in Gochang-gun, and 36 eup, myeon, and dong as special disaster zones at around noon due to recent heavy rain damage.
With these areas declared as special disaster zones, the government will cover 60-80% of the costs required for damage recovery.
Additionally, residents who suffered damage to their homes and main livelihoods such as agriculture and fisheries will receive disaster relief funds for livelihood support along with additional benefits such as various public utility fee reductions.
The basic benefits include national tax payment deferral, local tax reduction, recovery fund loans, exemption from national pension payments, water and sewage fee reductions, cadastral survey fee reductions, consolation payments for veterans, agricultural machinery repair support, and postponement of military service obligations.
Additional benefits include health insurance premium reductions, electricity bill reductions, communication fee reductions, city gas fee reductions, district heating fee reductions, and exemptions from military mobilization and reserve forces training.
Earlier, on the 11th, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Kim Hyun-soo inspected the damage and recovery status of rice and facility cultivation areas in Asan-myeon affected by flooding and conveyed the urgent situation of the region through a video conference cabinet meeting.
