Three Bus Drivers in Guro-gu, Seoul Confirmed Positive in Succession... Routes 5618 and 6512 Reduced Service
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Three bus drivers at a bus company in Guro-gu, Seoul, have been consecutively diagnosed with COVID-19, leading to the reduction of operations on two bus routes.
Guro-gu, Seoul, announced that two city bus drivers affiliated with Boseong Transport tested positive on the 23rd. Previously, one driver of the 6512 city bus belonging to the same company was confirmed positive on the previous day (22nd), and two additional drivers classified as close contacts also tested positive.
The Guro-gu Office and health authorities are conducting comprehensive testing on 145 employees at the Boseong Transport Guro-dong garage, where the three bus drivers were consecutively confirmed positive. However, the company’s Onsu-dong and Gwanak-gu branches are understood to be unrelated to the confirmed cases.
Bus number 5618 operates a route passing through Siheung-dong in Geumcheon-gu, Garibong-dong in Guro-gu, Singil-dong in Yeongdeungpo-gu, and Yoido Full Gospel Church. Bus number 6512 runs between Seoul National University Station in Gwanak-gu, Guro Digital Complex Station, Singil Station, and Namguro Station.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government immediately suspended operations of buses 6512 and 5618 upon the confirmation of cases and has been running these routes on a reduced schedule with substitute drivers since the evening of the 23rd. The Guro-gu Office explained, "The decision to resume operations will be made after analyzing the test results and epidemiological investigations of the affected individuals."
