Additional Namwon-type Emergency Disaster Relief Fund Provided... 100,000 Won Per Person
Starting from the 31st, payments will be made using paper gift certificates
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] To ensure the continuity of regional economic revitalization, Namwon City in Jeonbuk Province is allocating a separate budget to provide additional emergency disaster relief funds.
On the 22nd, the city announced that as the government’s emergency disaster relief fund usage period ends on the 31st, it will provide emergency disaster relief funds of 100,000 KRW per person (paper-type Namwon Sarang Gift Certificates) to prevent the contraction of citizens' livelihoods and the regional economy and to maintain continuity.
Earlier, in May, the city was the first nationwide to distribute emergency disaster relief funds (cash and prepaid cards) two weeks ahead of the government’s schedule, releasing a total of about 18 billion KRW (as of August 18) into the region, thereby revitalizing the local economy.
Additionally, to expedite the distribution of the government’s emergency disaster relief funds, the city issued prepaid cards instead of the regionally loved gift certificates, which take longer to produce, playing a key role in reviving the stagnant local economy.
Seeing the virtuous cycle effect from the emergency disaster relief fund distribution, the city enacted the ‘Namwon City Emergency Disaster Relief Fund Payment Ordinance’ and decided to allocate a separate budget of 8.1 billion KRW to provide additional Namwon-type emergency disaster relief funds.
Accordingly, the city plans to distribute Namwon-type emergency disaster relief funds of 100,000 KRW per person (paper-type Namwon Sarang Gift Certificates) from the 31st of this month until the 25th of next month.
The support targets are citizens registered as residents in Namwon City as of the application date from the 1st of last month, including children born up to the application date, foreign permanent residents, and marriage immigrants.
The application method requires the head of household to apply in principle, but household members or direct ascendants/descendants may apply at the administrative welfare centers of the town, township, or neighborhood of the registered address as of the 1st of last month with the head of household’s delegation.
