Gwangju City Opens Physical Fitness Certification Center at Gwangju World Cup Stadium
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] The 'Gwangju Physical Fitness Certification Center,' where any citizen can measure their physical fitness and receive exercise prescriptions, opened on the 21st inside the Gwangju World Cup Stadium.
Gwangju Metropolitan City applied to be the base institution for the Gwangju-Jeolla region in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's 'National Fitness 100' public contest project last April. After on-site inspections and a new certification institution selection committee, it received final approval from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in May this year.
The National Fitness 100 project is a public sports welfare service that provides scientific physical fitness measurement and customized exercise prescriptions. It measures basic fitness such as blood pressure, height, body fat composition, and muscle strength, as well as agility and cardiopulmonary endurance, and offers exercise prescriptions accordingly.
To operate the Gwangju Physical Fitness Certification Center (the base for the Gwangju-Jeolla region), Gwangju City provided idle space inside the Gwangju World Cup Stadium as offices for physical fitness measurement and exercise prescription.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is investing 700 million KRW in project funds and will operate the Jeolla base physical fitness certification center together with the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, including a dedicated dispatch team.
The 'National Fitness 100 Physical Fitness Certification Test' is free of charge and can be applied for via the Gwangju Physical Fitness Certification Center website or by phone. Due to COVID-19, the number of users is limited to 24 per day, and visitors must wear masks and scan a QR code upon entry.
Those who achieve excellent physical fitness results will receive a physical fitness certificate and will be supported with exercise prescriptions and fitness management according to their fitness level.
