Gwangju Nam-gu to Establish 'Dahamtge Dolbom Centers' at 4 Locations... Open Call for Sites
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 21st that it plans to establish four Dahamkke Care Centers within the district to alleviate childcare concerns for dual-income families and is publicly recruiting locations to build these centers.
The Dahamkke Care Center is a facility that provides childcare services for children outside of regular elementary school hours.
According to the Child Welfare Act, these facilities must be established and operated by local government heads, and Nam-gu plans to build one center in each of four locations within the district in accordance with related laws.
To establish a Dahamkke Care Center, the building must have a dedicated space of at least 66㎡.
Available spaces can include idle areas of social welfare facilities such as comprehensive social welfare centers, senior welfare centers, senior citizen centers, as well as public sports facilities, community centers, village halls, detached houses, apartment residents' common facilities, and type 1 neighborhood living facilities, provided the idle space is 66㎡ or larger.
However, to ensure a safe educational environment for children, there must be no establishments prohibited under the Youth Protection Act within 50 meters of the facility, and the space cannot be located underground or on the 5th floor or higher.
Nam-gu will accept applications for Dahamkke Care Center installation locations from the 28th of this month to the 3rd of next month, and after reviewing application documents and conducting on-site inspections, the final locations will be announced next month.
The selection criteria will consider the local community's interest in childcare, areas with relatively weak childcare facilities and welfare infrastructure, and, if multiple apartment complexes in the same zone apply, factors such as facility accessibility and safety will be reflected.
Facility managers who secure a Dahamkke Care Center will receive support for center remodeling costs, equipment costs (one-time initial), and annual personnel and operating expenses. For inquiries, contact the Women's and Family Division of Nam-gu Office for detailed information.
