Gyeongbuk Province, Alleyway Commercial Area Improvement by City and County ... Small Business Policy Support Meeting
Lee Cheol-woo Governor "Focusing Provincial Government Efforts on Revitalizing and Expanding Support for Small Businesses"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 19th that it will actively promote various small business support policies such as 'Revitalization of Alley Markets' and 'Hometown Market Happiness Marketing' from the second half of the year to proactively respond to the 'post-COVID-19' era.
In this regard, on the 13th, Gyeongbuk Economic Promotion Agency held a meeting attended by city and county officials and related organizations to discuss support measures for card fees for COVID-19 affected stores and the enactment of ordinances to designate specialized streets for market revitalization.
Since April, Gyeongbuk-do has been encouraging city and county officials to promptly execute support projects including reopening expenses and economic recovery funds for affected stores (115.1 billion KRW) and card fee support (24 billion KRW). Gyeongbuk-do provides support of at least 3 million KRW for stores visited by confirmed cases, 1 million KRW for closed stores, and 500,000 KRW for other affected stores.
In the second half of the year, as a new policy, alley markets with more than 20 stores concentrated will be selected 1 to 2 locations per each of the 23 cities and counties in the province to promote a 'Special Environment Improvement Project.' Additionally, during the busy autumn Chuseok season, 35 million KRW will be provided to traditional markets to hold Hometown Market Happiness Marketing events targeting local residents and customers, aiming to revitalize the depressed consumer sentiment and market atmosphere.
Along with this, to establish legal support grounds for small business owners affected by COVID-19 and to prepare support project grounds by sector, the cities and counties were urged to promptly enact and revise ordinances based on the 'Gyeongbuk Small Business Support Ordinance' and the 'Specialized Street Designation Ordinance for Market Revitalization,' which were enacted and implemented in the first half of the year.

Governor Lee Cheol-woo promised, "Today's difficulties could become opportunities for greater development tomorrow. Since small business owners, who are the most affected by COVID-19, are the field and foundation of the Gyeongbuk economy, we will focus the province's capabilities on revitalizing small businesses and expanding support in the direction of post-COVID-19 economic policies."
