Jeongeup-si 'Attaching Ceramic Nameplates' Practicing Talent Sharing in Rural Areas
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk Province and Jeonbuk Science College announced on the 19th that from the 14th to the 18th, they held a ceramic nameplate delivery event in four rural villages including Yangji Village in Ipam-myeon and Wondang Village in Buk-myeon.
Professor Park Hyunsu of the Design Department at Jeonbuk Science College and seven students from the Todam club have delivered ceramic nameplates, which they made themselves at the school since June, to about 200 households in rural villages.
A school official said, “We prepared a time to produce and deliver ceramic nameplates to remind people of the importance of family,” adding, “We expect not only the creation of harmonious and happy families but also secondary effects such as accurate delivery of mail.”
Jeongeup City and Jeonbuk Science College have been promoting a rural talent-sharing project for eight years since 2013 with the goal of ‘Creating 101% happiness through 1% talent sharing.’
From this year, as the project was transferred to local governments, activities have continued with local government budgets.
Especially this year, due to the global prevalence of the COVID-19 virus, non-face-to-face projects such as nameplate production and village environment cleanup are being prioritized.
The city and the school are thoroughly implementing COVID-19 prevention by ensuring volunteers comply with preventive measures and completing disinfection at village halls while carrying out the project.
