Gwanak-gu and Seoul National University Jointly Respond to COVID-19 for Foreign Students in the Second Semester
Systematic Management of International Students from Pre-Entry to Quarantine Release Following Government Guidelines... Establishing a Robust Quarantine System in Collaboration with Seoul National University
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu District Office (Mayor Park Junhee) is strengthening management measures for international students in cooperation with Seoul National University to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the local community, timed with the arrival of international students for the second semester at Seoul National University, and is establishing a thorough quarantine system.
International students at Seoul National University scheduled to arrive before the start of the second semester on September 2 must quarantine immediately upon arrival in temporary living facilities within Seoul National University or in self-isolated one-room accommodations.
Gwanak-gu and Seoul National University share information on the status of international students, expected arrival dates, and entry procedures, and are promoting thorough management of COVID-19 quarantine measures for international students from before their arrival until the end of their self-quarantine period.
To ensure strict quarantine management for the recently increasing number of international students, the district has expanded transportation vehicles for quarantine transfers and installed additional mobile screening clinics within Seoul National University to enhance convenience for international students.
The mobile screening clinics on campus also conduct second diagnostic tests for students who were unable to undergo testing before quarantine and for those before the end of their quarantine period.
Seoul National University is fully committed to thorough management by supporting some dormitories on campus as temporary living facilities so that international students can attend the second semester without disruption, deploying monitoring personnel, and conducting daily self-health monitoring.
Meanwhile, the district operates free psychological counseling services to help residents return to daily life, alleviating feelings of lethargy and psychological depression caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Through consultations with professional clinical counselors, unstable mental states are eased and necessary information is provided. If a client is considered high-risk or wishes for specialized counseling after the session, referrals to professional treatment institutions are supported.
In addition to psychological counseling, the district produces and provides kits containing items for psychological stability such as sleep masks, massage balls, stretching bars, and masks.
