Dobong-gu Holds Emergency Meeting to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19
Operation of a total of 101 facilities including district offices and community centers will be suspended from the 16th... On-site inspections of high-risk facilities such as entertainment venues and singing rooms are scheduled until August 29
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) held an "Emergency Countermeasure Meeting of Dobong-gu" on the 16th, chaired by the Dobong-gu Mayor, as social distancing was raised to Level 2 centered on the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas where COVID-19 is spreading rapidly.
The government decided to raise social distancing to Level 2 in Seoul and Gyeonggi from August 16th as the infection areas within the metropolitan area gradually expanded and COVID-19 cluster infections spread.
According to government guidelines, social distancing Level 2, implemented in Seoul and Gyeonggi areas, recommends refraining from non-essential outings, gatherings, events, and use of multi-use facilities, minimizing contact between people, and will be enforced for two weeks.
Furthermore, if the situation does not improve or worsens before or after two weeks, quarantine measures such as suspension of high-risk facility operations and prohibition of gatherings, meetings, and events will be strengthened.
At the emergency countermeasure meeting, about 20 officials including Dobong-gu Mayor Dongjin Lee, deputy mayors, heads of departments and offices, and heads of departments related to high-risk facilities attended and launched an emergency response system to prevent community spread following the elevation to social distancing Level 2.
At the emergency meeting, Mayor Dongjin Lee instructed to promptly secure the visitor list related to Sarang Jeil Church in Seongbuk-gu, where confirmed cases have recently occurred, and to guide testing.
He also instructed thorough inspections of high-risk facilities such as karaoke rooms and PC rooms and to provide guidance on compliance with quarantine rules, including refraining from external contact by workers in vulnerable living facilities such as nursing homes.
In particular, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 cluster infections, from the 16th, the district suspended operations of a total of 101 facilities including 11 facilities for rent at the district office and community centers, 31 autonomous community centers and village community spaces, 27 public cultural facilities, 17 park sports and leisure facilities, and 15 youth and welfare facilities.
Additionally, the district strengthened public announcements such as posting notices on the website and sending text messages regarding the suspension of public multi-use facilities, and promoted social distancing Level 2 through banners to the residents.
Moreover, administrative orders restricting gatherings will be enforced on 13 high-risk facilities including large restaurants, entertainment venues, karaoke rooms, indoor sports facilities, indoor standing concert halls, door-to-door sales businesses, and PC rooms, as well as facilities mandated to follow quarantine rules such as arcades, religious facilities, cinemas, and funeral homes, with on-site inspections scheduled through August 29th.
