View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) is producing a video titled ‘Seongdong Urban Regeneration Hot Spot,’ in which a famous idol group introduces major urban regeneration locations through street dance to promote the district.
In June, the district signed an MOU with Cube Entertainment, a major entertainment agency located in Seongsu-dong, to establish a culture-based urban regeneration ecosystem and revitalize urban regeneration projects in the area.
Through this agreement, the idol group CLC, under Cube Entertainment, will collaborate to produce a video introducing key urban regeneration sites in the district through dance, promoting the projects.
While previous promotional videos conveyed messages through storytelling, this video will feature CLC performing street dance to music reflecting the characteristics of each regeneration area, visually showcasing the urban regeneration scenes of each neighborhood. Production will begin in August, with distribution planned for October via Seongdong-gu Office’s YouTube channel and various urban regeneration blogs to easily promote urban regeneration to diverse generations.
A district official stated, “Seongdong-gu is the district with the most urban regeneration projects in Seoul, implementing nine projects across five neighborhoods: Seongsu, Majang, Songjeong, Sageun, and Yongdap. Due to the nature of urban regeneration, informing residents, actively collecting their opinions, and community participation are essential. However, the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult to promote and carry out resident participation projects, so we are focusing on producing various online content.”
In addition to this promotional video, the district is conducting various ‘Urban Regeneration ONtact’ projects using online platforms.
The ‘Urban Regeneration University,’ previously conducted as in-person group education for residents, is now offered as online lectures. Until September, to promote urban regeneration projects in Songjeong-dong and Sageun-dong and strengthen resident capabilities, lectures related to urban regeneration are provided through the ‘Songjeong Urban Regeneration University Band’ and the YouTube channel ‘Sageun Urban Regeneration,’ with certificates awarded upon course completion.
In the Majang urban regeneration area, an online cooking class called ‘Majang Cooking’ and a recipe contest are held to support residents exhausted by COVID-19. The resident participation cooking classes, previously held at ‘Majang Kitchen,’ a shared kitchen for improving food culture in the Majang regeneration area, are now conducted online via Majang urban regeneration SNS platforms such as YouTube and Band. Starting on the 17th, the ‘One Cup Recipe Contest,’ featuring dishes using beef, a representative product of Majang-dong, will be held online.
