Two Additional Landmines Collected in Forward Area

View original image[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter]Two additional anti-personnel mines, presumed to have been washed away by heavy rain, were discovered in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province, and Cheorwon, Gangwon Province.
According to military officials on the 18th, the newly discovered mines are known to be the type used by friendly forces. With this, the total number of mines recovered so far is 21. The military authorities are currently conducting a comprehensive mine search operation in the border areas. As of this day, about 1,000 personnel and approximately 340 pieces of equipment have been deployed.
Notably, the United States Forces Korea are also participating in this operation, and from this day, the US military is reported to deploy mine detection teams and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units around the Cheorwon area.
