Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance as Head, Department Head-Level Team Leaders from Main Ministries Assigned, Total About 20 Members
Advisory Group of About 50 Experts by Issue and Field Planned... Three Divisions: Digital, Green, and Safety Net
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] The 'Korean New Deal Task Force' to systematically support the comprehensive plan for the Korean New Deal was launched on the 18th. The task force consists of a total of about 20 members across four departments: Digital New Deal Team, Green New Deal Team, Safety Net Reinforcement Team, and Planning and Coordination Team.
On this day, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance announced the full-scale operation of the pan-government joint Korean New Deal Task Force to oversee and support the implementation of the Korean New Deal policy.
Earlier, on the 14th of last month, the government announced the 'Comprehensive Plan for the Korean New Deal' jointly with related ministries. As a follow-up measure, the task force was established to systematically support the Korean New Deal.
The task force supports the smooth implementation of the Korean New Deal by discovering additional agendas, coordinating related policies at the working level, and checking the progress of overall projects. Specifically, it supports the systematic operation of decision-making bodies such as ▲ the Korean New Deal Strategy Meeting chaired by the President ▲ the Korean New Deal Party-Government Promotion Headquarters ▲ the Korean New Deal Related Ministers' Meeting. Through this, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance expects collaboration between related ministries and the party-government to become much easier.
Additionally, an advisory group composed of experts by issue and field will be operated to actively collect opinions from the private sector and strengthen communication on the ground. The advisory group is planned to be composed of 50 members across three divisions: Digital, Green, and Safety Net.
The head of the task force is Kim Yong-beom, Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance. The task force is composed of four departments: Planning and Coordination Team, Digital New Deal Team, Green New Deal Team, and Safety Net Reinforcement Team, with about 20 members dispatched from related ministries including the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, Ministry of Science and ICT, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Employment and Labor, Ministry of Education, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and the Office for Government Policy Coordination.
Considering the nature of the Korean New Deal work, which is handled by multiple ministries, the planning and coordination tasks are led by a team leader from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. The Digital New Deal Team is staffed with department head-level personnel from the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Green New Deal Team with personnel from the Ministry of Environment, and the Safety Net Reinforcement Team with personnel from the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
