[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] The cement industry is stepping up to support flood victims who have lost their homes and fallen into despair due to the unprecedented longest rainy season and record-breaking heavy rains.
The Korea Cement Association (Chairman Lee Hyun-jun, current CEO of Ssangyong Cement Industrial Co., Ltd.), whose members include major domestic cement companies, announced on the 18th that it will donate 100,000 bags of cement (40kg each) to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Disaster and Safety Management Headquarters. This donation aims to comfort the flood victims who have lost significant property and housing due to nationwide floods and to actively participate in rapid disaster recovery. In this regard, the Disaster and Safety Management Headquarters has begun assessing the demand for the donated cement by affected regions for prioritized deployment.
