LG Electronics Volunteer Group Stays in Gurye, Works Hard on Flood Recovery with Free Appliance Repairs
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] LG Electronics employee volunteer group is conducting flood recovery activities in Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do, which suffered severe damage from heavy rain.
According to LG Electronics on the 18th, the employee volunteer group that visited Gurye-gun on the 10th will stay on site until the 31st, carrying out various volunteer activities for local residents, including damage recovery support and electrical inspections. The current volunteer group of about 200 people plans to expand to 300 members.
In Gurye-gun, about 10% of the total 13,000 households were flooded, and approximately 1,400 disaster victims were reported.
LG Electronics has set up a temporary base at the Gurye 5-day Market parking lot, where local service engineers are conducting service activities. The service engineers are promptly restoring damage by cleaning flooded home appliances free of charge and replacing parts as needed.
LG Electronics has installed Wash Towers, washing machines, and dryers at disaster victim shelters set up at Gurye Girls' Middle School and Gurye High School, operating laundry rooms for the victims. They are also providing portable air conditioners, air purifiers, and microwave ovens to reduce the inconvenience of the disaster victims.
Whenever natural disasters occur, LG Electronics carries out disaster recovery activities centered on nationwide service engineers to alleviate the difficulties of disaster victims as much as possible. Since the end of last month, temporary service bases have been established in about 10 locations nationwide, including Daejeon, Namwon, Gwangju, and Cheorwon, providing flood recovery services to approximately 3,400 affected households.
