[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] On the 16th, Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae announced regarding the surge in confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), "We will take swift legal action against acts that violate the administrative orders of the quarantine authorities."
Minister Choo expressed concern about the "signs of a COVID-19 pandemic" in a post on her Facebook page that afternoon and issued this warning.
The Ministry of Justice decided to reactivate the epidemiological investigation support team, Minister Choo revealed.
She stated, "The same prosecutors and police officers quickly gathered again, leveraging the experience from the first support task that provided rapid legal support for quarantine administration, confirmed infection vectors and routes through forensics, and helped prevent further spread."
According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters, the number of new domestic COVID-19 confirmed cases reached 548 over the past three days.
