Gyeongbuk Reports No New 'COVID-19' Cases... All Close Contacts of Confirmed Firefighter Test Negative

According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 15th, as of midnight, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Gyeongbuk area remained the same as the previous day at 1,370. The number of recovered patients and deaths also remained unchanged at 1,300 and 58, respectively. Twelve confirmed patients are receiving treatment at Andong Medical Center (8 patients) and other hospitals in different cities and provinces (4 patients).
Earlier, a 39-year-old firefighter from Pohang who had visited the home of a confirmed patient in Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, on the 9th and 10th, was tested positive at Pohang Health Center on the 13th after showing fever symptoms and was admitted to Andong Medical Center. Subsequently, test results for 79 people, including contacts and firefighters who used the same space, all came back negative. This marks the first community infection case in Pohang in 149 days since March 17.

The Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters decided to conduct additional tests on 60 people as a preventive measure related to the firefighter's confirmed case. Furthermore, 15 close contacts who worked together were placed under self-quarantine for two weeks despite negative test results.
