The U.S. Women's Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour announced on the 14th (Korean time) that "this year's Taiwan Swinging Skirts LPGA (total prize money $2.2 million) will not be held." It was originally scheduled to open on October 29 at Miramar Golf Course in New Taipei City, Taiwan (par 72, 6,437 yards). The explanation was that "due to the challenging COVID-19 prevention measures and travel restrictions between countries, it is impossible to hold the tournament."

Following the cancellation of the Buick LPGA Shanghai in China the day before, this is already the second out of four events in the Asian region to be canceled. The events in Korea (BMW Ladies on October 22) and Japan (Toto Japan Classic on November 6) are also highly likely to be postponed until next year. Both Korea and Japan are postponing their domestic tours one after another due to COVID-19. The LPGA Tour was shut down after the Australian Women's Open in February and resumed after about five months with the Drive On Championship on the 31st of last month.
