Seongbuk-gu 1-Person Creative Enterprise Shelter 'Dojeonsuk' 68 Households Supplied
2020 2nd Half Dojeonsuk New (No. 12·14), Vacancy Unit Supply Announcement (2020. 8. 17. ~ 9.7.)... Providing Startup Spaces Along with Mentoring and Incubating Support
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will supply 68 units of 'Dojeonsuk' in the second half of 2020 to support startups.
Dojeonsuk is a mixed-use rental housing that simultaneously provides office and accommodation for one-person creative entrepreneurs. Starting with the first branch supplied in 2014, it has currently supplied up to the 11th branch, and plans to supply a total of 15 branches and 203 rooms by the first half of 2021.
Until the first half of 2020, recruitment was limited to one-person creative entrepreneurs or prospective startup founders, but from the supply volume in the second half of this year, the recruitment target has been expanded to include university students preparing for startups and social entrepreneurs, opening the door wide for more youth and startup founders to have opportunities to apply.
A survey targeting university students in the metropolitan area showed that the average monthly rent expenditure is about 420,000 KRW, whereas the monthly rent for Dojeonsuk is relatively affordable at 60,000 to 380,000 KRW.
Residents receive not only hardware support but also software support such as startup mentoring, incubating, and community provision for collaboration, which has received great response.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “At a time when youth unemployment has reached its peak due to COVID-19, I hope that this supply of Dojeonsuk will become a spark of hope for one-person companies and young people preparing for startups who are facing difficulties. We will also make various efforts to support youth jobs and startups in the future.”
