Ulsan 'Ulju Geomdan-ri Bronze Age Site' Comprehensive Maintenance Plan Initiated
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] On the 13th, Ulju-gun, Ulsan held a kickoff briefing session at the county office Ihwa Hall to establish a comprehensive maintenance plan for the nationally designated cultural heritage Site No. 332, 'Ulju Ungchon-myeon Geomdan-ri Site.'
The Geomdan-ri site in Ulju was discovered in 1990 as Korea's first complete form of a large-scale Bronze Age collective village site, with a moat (hwanho) dug around the village perimeter.
At the time of discovery, in addition to the moat, many relics were confirmed, including 92 pit dwellings, 1 posthole building site, 13 old tombs, and 4 facilities related to folk graves.
Since its discovery, due to backfilling and the lack of a maintenance plan, the value of the site has not been utilized, and urgent comprehensive maintenance plan measures have been continuously raised.
