Government Launches Green New Deal Control Tower... Discussions on Future Cars and More
The 1st Meeting of the 'Green New Deal Subcommittee' Co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Environment
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Government ministries are gathering to actively discuss detailed tasks for implementing the Green New Deal, including future cars and smart green industrial complexes.
The government announced on the 12th that the first meeting of the 'Green New Deal Subcommittee,' jointly chaired by Sung Yun-mo, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, and Cho Myung-rae, Minister of Environment, will be held at the Government Sejong Complex.
The two ministers will serve as co-chairs, with vice ministers from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Science and ICT also participating.
The meeting will cover ▲ checking the progress of key Green New Deal tasks ▲ establishing development directions for Green New Deal industries such as smart green industrial complexes and future cars ▲ and creating a system for spreading these initiatives to private companies and local communities.
The subcommittee's goal is to rapidly implement the comprehensive Green New Deal plan announced on the 14th of last month, transforming the economic and social structure toward low carbon and creating new growth engines.
The subcommittee meetings are scheduled to be held twice a month. In addition to reviewing and supplementing Green New Deal implementation tasks, plans to spread the Green New Deal to private companies and local areas and share achievements will also be discussed.
