"Let's Revive Domestic Travel"... 1 Million People to Receive Accommodation Discount Coupons
From the 14th, one ticket per person on a first-come, first-served basis through 27 online travel agencies
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] To revitalize the domestic tourism market, which has been contracted due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), one million accommodation discount coupons usable at travel destinations will be distributed.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 10th that starting from 10 a.m. on the 14th, they will begin the "National Accommodation Discount Coupon with K-Quarantine" support project, which offers discount benefits when booking domestic accommodations.
Through a total of 27 online travel agencies (OTAs) participating in this project, discount coupons that can be used for domestic accommodation reservations will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis, limited to one issuance per person. The total issuance scale is one million coupons. There are 200,000 coupons worth 30,000 KRW for accommodations priced at 70,000 KRW or less, and 800,000 coupons worth 40,000 KRW applicable to accommodations priced above 70,000 KRW.
Discounts apply to registered and reported domestic accommodations such as hotels, condos, resorts, pensions, rural homestays, and motels. The stay period is set from September 1 to the end of October, considering the activation of the off-peak domestic tourism market.
Once a coupon is issued, it must be used to book an accommodation within the valid time frame from 10 a.m. on the day of issuance until 7 a.m. the following day. If not used within this time or if the reservation is canceled, the coupon will be automatically invalidated, but it can be reissued until all one million coupons are exhausted.
