Nowon-gu Supports 'Safe Home Set' to Prevent Crime for Single Women Households
Ansim Home Set for 130 Households: Digital Video Door Viewer, Window Stopper, and Auxiliary Front Door Key 3-Item Set Installed by Company Visit
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) is promoting the ‘Safe Home Set Support’ project to prevent crimes against single women households.
The ‘Safe Home Set Support’ project aims to support the safe residential life of women living alone by installing a set of three items: a ‘digital video peephole,’ a ‘window stopper,’ and an ‘auxiliary front door lock.’
First, the ‘digital video peephole’ allows residents to check visitors on a screen from inside the house. The double-locking ‘window stopper’ prevents windows from being opened from the outside, and the ‘auxiliary front door lock’ is a double lock on the front door that blocks the door from opening even if the keypad code is entered.
Applicants must be single women households living in rental housing with a deposit of 150 million KRW or less. Apartment residents and homeowners are excluded.
Applications can be submitted by downloading the application form from the district office website by the 31st of this month and sending the completed form along with the lease contract and resident registration certificate via email.
For more details, contact the Women and Family Division of the district office or the Nowon-gu Women’s Association.
About 130 households will be selected through a review of the rental amount and housing condition, and individual notifications will be sent on September 15.
The district is conducting various projects to create an environment where women can live safely and securely.
One representative project is the personal safety app ‘Ansim-i,’ which ensures safety on nighttime streets. In an emergency, pressing the emergency button triggers monitoring by 2,082 CCTVs at the district control center, and the police are dispatched.
Another popular project is the ‘Safe Return Monitoring,’ which notifies guardians of the arrival time when the departure and destination are entered.
Additionally, there is the ‘Safe Return Scout,’ which accompanies users home if requested 30 minutes before arrival.
The ‘Women’s Safe Parcel Box’ project allows recipients to receive packages without meeting strangers. It is installed in nine convenient locations, including Wolgye Cultural Information Library and Gongneung Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, and is available free of charge 24/7, 365 days a year.
Going forward, the district plans to establish a public-private cooperation system with the Nowon-gu Women’s Association and the Seoul Nowon Police Station to build a dense safety network.
