Turning 'Maengjinsadaek Gyeongsa' into an Opera... Nuova Opera Company's 'Cheonsaengyeonbun' Performance
At the Opera Theater of Seoul Arts Center from the 7th to the 9th
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Nuova Opera Company will perform the Korean opera "Cheonsaengyeonbun," based on Oh Young-jin's play "Maengjinsadaek Gyeongsa," at the Opera Theater of the Seoul Arts Center from the 7th to the 9th. "Cheonsaengyeonbun" will be staged as the opening work of the 11th Korea Opera Festival.
"Cheonsaengyeonbun" vividly depicts the intertwined love story of Seo-hyang, the daughter of nobleman Kim Pan-seo, Mong-wan, the son of wealthy man Maeng Jin-sa, and their servants Ippeuni and Seo-dong.
It premiered in Germany in 2006 and has received acclaim through performances not only in Korea but also in Japan, China, and Hong Kong.
This performance, directed by Lee Hoe-soo, will add a Western exotic sensibility to the Korean atmosphere, offering a new emotional experience.
