Gochang-gun Promotes Animal Protection Campaign at Summer Vacation Spots
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk announced on the 7th that it will conduct a promotional campaign until the 20th to prevent abandonment and loss of animals and to foster a mature companion animal culture.
Gochang-gun plans to post banners and distribute promotional materials at major walking paths and parks for companion animals, and also conduct promotional campaigns at major tourist sites such as beaches, where crowds are expected to gather during the vacation season.
The campaign covers key amendments to the Animal Protection Act next year, including strengthened penalties for animal abuse and abandonment, compliance with pet etiquette by owners when going out with companion animals, and mandatory animal registration for buyers of sold animals.
In particular, due to the increasing seriousness of dog bites caused by negligence in managing dangerous dogs, the campaign focuses on informing dangerous dog owners about the mandatory 3-hour education.
Additionally, starting from February next year, the campaign will inform about the mandatory subscription to liability insurance to compensate for damage to others' life, body, and property caused by dangerous dogs.
