Damyang-gun Hosts Blood Donation Event to Overcome Blood Shortage
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Damyang-gun, Jeonnam (Governor Choi Hyung-sik) announced on the 6th that it held a ‘Love Blood Donation Event’ targeting the county office, health center, and related organizations.
This event was organized to resolve the blood supply shortage caused by COVID-19 and to participate in the precious sharing of life.
Despite the bad weather due to the rainy season on the day, about 130 people including county officials, police station, fire station, education support office, Sarang Hospital, Dongsan Korean Medicine Hospital, and Hyerim Comprehensive Welfare Center participated in blood donation at the blood donation sites set up at the county office and health center.
In addition, employees of local medical institutions such as Changpyeong Hanmaeum Nursing Hospital, Changpyeong Woori Hospital, Myeongmun Nursing Hospital, Damyang Chamsarang Hospital, and Hanul Nursing Hospital also joined by visiting the mobile blood donation vehicle.
A county official said, “Many people voluntarily participated in blood donation during this difficult time, which greatly helped the blood supply,” and added, “We ask for continued interest and participation in saving precious lives.”
Meanwhile, the county conducts the ‘Love Blood Donation’ campaign twice a year in cooperation with the Korean Red Cross Gwangju-Jeonnam Blood Center, and also promotes the ‘Hope Sharing Practice Campaign’ which donates blood donation certificates to patients who continuously need transfusions such as leukemia patients along with securing blood supply.

If county residents need blood donation certificates for transfusion, they can apply to the Pharmaceutical Management Division of the health center and receive donations up to once per person per year (10 certificates).
