An S Pen You Keep Wanting to Use... Trying Out the Galaxy Note20 Ultra
Pen-like writing feel and faster response speed
S Pen Air Action feature... convenient capture and control
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Galaxy Note20 is characterized by its focus on the core functions of a note device, featuring the S Pen that boasts a perfect writing feel and the ability to use it like a PC in your hand. Even if you are used to touching the smartphone with your fingers, mastering the S Pen's Air Action allows for faster work. This is why you keep wanting to take out the S Pen.
The S Pen response speed of the Ultra model is 9ms, which is 80% faster compared to its predecessor (Note10+), giving the illusion of writing with an actual pen. Samsung Electronics explained, "We improved trajectory prediction accuracy by training with millions of samples of handwriting and shapes using artificial intelligence (AI) technology." The 'Air Action' feature, which allows you to control the smartphone, can be used with more applications and with desired gestures, making it convenient. For example, pressing the button and flicking left performs a 'back' action. Pressing the button and moving in a zigzag pattern allows you to capture the screen and take notes.
Since the Note series was launched in 2011, the S Pen has continuously evolved. Following features like Smart Select (Note4), which allows you to save only the desired parts, and translation (Note8), the S Pen now offers advanced functions such as straightening crooked handwriting horizontally and an 'Audio Bookmark' feature that plays back the recorded parts while taking notes.
The linkage feature between a PC with Windows 10 installed and the Galaxy Note20 is welcomed by office workers. By turning on the Note20's 'Link to Windows' feature and scanning the QR code displayed on the PC screen, the two devices connect immediately. It was convenient to freely transfer photos or documents without sending photos via KakaoTalk or connecting with a USB cable. A feature to run Note20 apps on the PC is also planned to be added within the year.
Using the Windows integration feature, photos and documents can be conveniently shared.
View original imageThe Galaxy Note20 Ultra has a large 6.9-inch screen, which is 1 inch bigger than its predecessor. The width remains the same, the height is 2mm longer, and the thickness is 0.2mm thicker. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate, making screen transitions smooth when enjoying videos or games. Even when watching fast-paced YouTube videos, it is not burdensome. The refresh rate automatically adjusts according to the content, so there is no need to manually lower it. Despite the large screen, the edge design makes it comfortable to hold. The bezel is so thin that it is almost unnoticeable. The back of the Ultra model is glass but equipped with 'Gorilla Glass Victus,' which has twice the scratch and drop durability compared to its predecessor. The back of the standard model is made of reinforced polycarbonate material.
