Gwangyang City Holds 2020 Jeollanam-do Promising Small and Medium Enterprise Representatives Invitation Meeting
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Gwangyang City announced that it held a meeting the day before with representatives of 13 companies selected as ‘2020 Jeollanam-do Promising Small and Medium Enterprises’ to listen to their difficulties and opinions.
The Promising Small and Medium Enterprises Development Project is a program by Jeollanam-do that designates small and medium enterprises with high growth potential and excellent technological capabilities as promising SMEs, providing systematic support to help them leap forward as global strong small and medium enterprises.
At the meeting, business representatives expressed that they are entering an emergency economic system due to the economic recession caused by COVID-19 and sluggish domestic and international exports and domestic demand, including the steel industry, resulting in many difficulties in business activities. They requested efforts to expand purchases of SME products, support management funds, and ease regulations.
Jung Hyun-bok, Mayor of Gwangyang City, encouraged the efforts of company representatives who are devoted to business activities despite difficult economic conditions, and promised to do his best in administrative support to overcome difficulties through cooperation between the public, private, and industrial sectors and to strengthen the competitiveness of local companies.
He then introduced this year’s SME support policies and sought understanding and cooperation for revitalizing the local economy, such as prioritizing the employment of Gwangyang citizens and active consumption activities.
