Baedahae Almost Fell for Phishing Scam... "Told to Send 6 Million Won to Parents"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Musical actress Bae Da-hae revealed that she was a victim of messenger phishing.
On the 3rd, Bae Da-hae posted on her Instagram, "I received an urgent message from my mom and dad this morning saying they almost fell victim to voice phishing," along with a photo.
The photo revealed KakaoTalk messenger conversations between Bae Da-hae's parents and the scammer.
The scammer pretended to be Bae Da-hae, saying, "I left my phone at the repair shop and accessed it via computer," and demanded a transfer of 6 million won.
The scammer urged the transfer, saying, "It's money that needs to be deposited urgently, but I can't do a bank transfer because my phone is broken."
In response, Bae Da-hae's mother replied, "Send me the account number," and the scammer sent the account number, saying, "Mom, please deposit it here."
Bae Da-hae said, "My father immediately made the deposit, but fortunately, it was an account that had been blocked. It was understandable to be suspicious, but since I usually ask my mom and dad to send me money via KakaoTalk from time to time, they naturally thought it was me and sent it." She added, "Suddenly, I feel so angry. What kind of divine punishment are those people trying to avoid by living like this?"
