[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is seeking nominations for candidates for the '25th Gwangjin Citizen Award,' which recognizes residents and organizations that contribute to the development of the local community and serve as role models.
Started in 1995, the Gwangjin Citizen Award was established to express gratitude to exemplary residents and organizations contributing to the community and to promote participation in district administration and volunteerism.
The award categories include: ▲Economic and Community Development ? one individual and one organization, ▲Volunteerism and Donation ? one individual and one organization, and ▲Filial Piety ? one individual.
Nominees must have outstanding achievements in their respective award categories and must be residents of Gwangjin-gu for at least three years as of the award date or organizations located in Gwangjin-gu.
The nomination deadline is August 14, and nominations can be submitted by district heads, department heads, heads of related institutions or organizations, or by two or more Gwangjin-gu residents. Nominations must include a recommendation letter and a record of achievements and can be sent by mail, in person, or email to the Gwangjin-gu Autonomous Administration Division.
The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in October, subject to change depending on the COVID-19 situation. The names of the Gwangjin Citizen Award recipients will be engraved on a plaque and permanently preserved at the Gwangjin Culture and Arts Center.
