Gwangju City to Implement Resident Reporting System for Illegal Parking in School Zones Starting from the 3rd
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 2nd that starting from the 3rd, it will fully implement the illegal parking reporting system by residents within school zones of elementary schools in the area.
Since April last year, the city has expanded the school zones to include the four major illegal parking areas?fire hydrants, intersection corners, bus stops, and crosswalk surroundings?where the system has been operating to prevent safety accidents caused by illegal parking and to strengthen children's traffic safety.
The resident reporting system is a system that imposes fines based on residents' reports without enforcement by local government officials.
Enforcement hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
If a vehicle illegally parked on the road in front of an elementary school is reported using the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Safe Report app with at least two photos taken at one-minute intervals from the same location, showing the violation area, vehicle number, and the time of shooting, a fine will be imposed.
The city and local districts conducted an administrative notice for 20 days starting June 8 and had a guidance period until the end of last month. The fines for violations will be 80,000 KRW for passenger cars and 90,000 KRW for vans.
