Oh Ha-geun, Jeonnam Provincial Assembly Member, Inaugurated as the 10th Chairman of the Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority Council
Chairman Oh Hageun: "I Will Do My Best for the Development of the Gwangyang Bay Area"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Oh Hageun, a member of the Jeonnam Provincial Council, was elected as the chairman of the Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority Council on the 30th and presided over the first extraordinary meeting.
According to the Jeonnam Provincial Council on the 31st, the Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority is a local government association consisting of Gwangyang City, Suncheon City, Yeosu City, Hadong County in Gyeongnam, and the four cities and counties of the Gwangyang Bay Area.
The council serves as a body that deliberates and resolves major matters of the Free Economic Zone Authority, such as the establishment and revision of association bylaws and regulations, budget and settlement plans, and coordination among local governments.
The council members include 11 participants: 7 from Jeonnam, including 3 Jeonnam Provincial Council members, 3 from Gyeongnam, and 1 from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
At the extraordinary meeting, Chairman Oh expressed his gratitude to all the employees of the Economic Authority who are making every effort to overcome difficulties such as decreased productivity of companies in the Gwangyang Bay Area and challenges in attracting investment for development projects due to the spread of COVID-19 while receiving major business reports.
Meanwhile, he promised to devote himself to activities that meet the expectations of local residents wishing for the development of the Gwangyang Bay Area and to help it become a dynamic international trade city where new industries, cultural tourism, and ecological environment harmonize.

Chairman Oh previously served as the vice chairman of the Health, Welfare and Environment Committee in the first half of the Jeonnam Provincial Council, and in the latter half, he has been actively engaged as the chairman of the Gwangyang Bay Area Environment and Safety Special Committee and as a member of the Education Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council.
