[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] On the 30th, the daily number of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Tokyo Metropolis, Japan, was confirmed to be 367, the highest level ever recorded.
According to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun on the same day, the number of confirmed cases in Tokyo exceeded 300 for the second time, following 366 cases on the 23rd.
As a result, the total cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Tokyo has increased to 12,288.
It is reported that infections are increasing not only in entertainment districts where COVID-19 had previously spread intensively but also through households and company dinners.
Accordingly, Tokyo Metropolis is reportedly considering requesting restaurants and bars throughout Tokyo to shorten their business hours again to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The implementation period is until August 31, with business hours limited to 10 p.m.
