Gwangju Nam-gu Declares 'War' on Illegal Advertising Agencies and Advertisers
If Caught, Strict No-Tolerance Policy Will Impose Heavy Fines
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byung-nae) has decided to launch an all-out campaign against advertising agencies and advertisers who indiscriminately post illegal advertisements through guerrilla methods of putting up and taking down banners during nighttime hours when administrative power is limited, despite large-scale cleanup efforts targeting illegal banners.
On the 29th, Nam-gu announced that it will strengthen crackdowns on illegal advertisements to eradicate chronic illegal advertising and establish a safe environment for pedestrians and vehicle traffic.
First, Nam-gu, with the determination to eradicate illegal advertisements, has summoned all employees of the Urban Planning Department, the responsible division, to soon begin cleanup and crackdowns.
It is rare for all employees working in the Urban Planning Department to participate in illegal advertisement cleanup operations, and the cleanup and crackdowns will be conducted on unspecified dates.
Additionally, starting next month, 40 personnel hired through job creation projects to collect illegal banners will be deployed across all areas of the district to carry out cleanup operations during all hours on weekdays.
Furthermore, to conduct a comprehensive cleanup of illegal advertisements during nighttime hours when administrative power is limited, many public officials from the responsible department and temporary workers will also be deployed.
