Attacks on Chinese Social System as 'Paedo' Amid Election and Hegemony Maintenance Needs
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Jo Young-shin] Wang Yi (王毅), Chinese Foreign Minister, stated that "some political forces in the United States are completely denying the history of China-US relations due to the necessity of elections and maintaining hegemony," and defined "attacking the social system chosen by the Chinese people as 'hegemonic bullying'."
He also warned against the rhetoric and actions of the US political circles trying to lead to a new Cold War, stating that if conspiracy theories become reality, not only China-US relations but also the world will fall into a crisis of division, endangering the future of humanity.
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry on the 29th, Wang Yi made these remarks during a phone call with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian the previous day, and declared that China will act firmly against the US, which advocates "America First."
Wang Yi also emphasized that the United States is abandoning international commitments and obligations, noting that the number of international treaties the US government has withdrawn from is already greater than any previous administration.
He criticized the US for declaring withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO) despite opposition from the international community during a critical phase of the pandemic, avoiding the moral duties and responsibilities that a major power should bear. He added that "China will respond firmly and rationally to US bullying."
He stressed, "China has not caused problems and has exercised maximum restraint," but said that decades of China-US exchanges are being threatened by a small number of anti-China forces.
Wang Yi stated, "Unity and cooperation in the international community must be jointly protected by countries around the world," and added, "Countries must make accurate and wise judgments so that the world is not swept into a new Cold War driven by a small number of US political forces."
On the same day, during a phone call with UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, Wang Yi conveyed the position that "the UK is discriminating against China in information and communication fields such as 5G under US threats." He requested the UK side to provide an open, fair, and non-discriminatory investment environment.
