Jungnang-gu Minimizes Heavy Rain Damage to Residents with 'Pungsuhae Insurance'
Visit the local community center at your address or enroll remotely via the 'Pungsuhae Insurance' website
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is making every effort to minimize damage to residents caused by weather disasters through 'Feng Shui Disaster Insurance' in preparation for heavy summer rains.
Feng Shui Disaster Insurance is a policy insurance supported by the government and local authorities to cover part of the insurance premiums that residents must pay. It is designed to help individuals cope with unexpected typhoons, floods, heavy rains, strong winds, storm surges, heavy snow, earthquakes, and other disasters.
For general subscribers, 52.5% to 92% of the insurance premium is subsidized, while basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income groups are covered free of charge.
Residents can receive compensation according to the scale of damage in the event of Feng Shui disasters and earthquakes at affordable premiums. Eligible applicants include small business owners operating stores and factories, houses, and agricultural and forestry greenhouses including vinyl houses. Both owners and tenants are eligible.
Additionally, the district encourages re-enrollment of houses previously damaged by flooding, existing subscribers, and beneficiaries. For group subscriptions conducted by the district office, the subscription period is one year, so re-enrollment is required after one year for previously flooded houses and existing subscribers.
Residents wishing to apply for Feng Shui Disaster Insurance can visit their local community service center to apply. They can also apply remotely via mobile on the 'Feng Shui Disaster Insurance' website, where they will receive a text message from the insurance company with information on resident-burdened insurance premiums and other details.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I hope many residents can join Feng Shui Disaster Insurance without burden and prepare for various natural disasters to minimize damage.”
The district announced that as of June, 121 households have subscribed to Feng Shui Disaster Insurance, an increase of about 29% from 86 households last year.
