Yoon Sang-hyun: "Regarding the secret agreement, the original can be checked at the National Intelligence Service"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Yoon Sang-hyun, an independent lawmaker and former chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, urged verification of the authenticity of the alleged 'secret agreement' signed by Park Ji-won, the current nominee for the National Intelligence Service (NIS) director, stating, "To verify the authenticity of the secret agreement, the original document held by the NIS should be reviewed."
On the 28th, Yoon said on Facebook, "This is not just a personal issue of the nominee, but a national matter."
He added, "Verification is not difficult. If the secret agreement is real, the original should be stored at the NIS, so it can be reviewed. The nominee himself said, 'If I did sign it, I will resign from the candidacy for NIS director.'"
Yoon emphasized, "Verification must be conducted 'based solely on the facts as they are' and no political considerations should be involved."
