Kakao CEOs Yeominsu and Josuyong: "We Will Create a Platform That Embraces Even People in Their 80s"
[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] "The direction we need to take is to use technology and platforms to create an inclusive environment in 'untact (contactless)' situations."
Yeo Min-soo, co-CEO of Kakao, stated this regarding 'Kakao's reason for existence and future' in a video message released on the 27th to mark the 10th anniversary of the launch of KakaoTalk this year.
CEO Yeo explained, "The variety of people using platforms in untact situations caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) has greatly increased." He added, "People in their 70s and 80s also need to order food and buy goods, but for those who have never done it before, the process starting from creating an account to linking a credit card is difficult," emphasizing, "We must first make it easy."
Co-CEO Cho Soo-yong said, "Many of the things that made Kakao successful were connections between people. There was a commonality in connecting people more smartly through the power of technology," and stated, "The two themes of people and technology are very ordinary expressions, but as long as these two remain alive, Kakao will have countless things to do in the future."
Kakao defines the upcoming future as 'Season 2' and announced five core values regarding its internal work methods.
▲ We are not afraid to take paths we have never been on ▲ We think again from the beginning, leaving only the essence ▲ We believe that a colleague's thoughts may be more correct than ours ▲ We immerse ourselves and work proactively ▲ We strive to change the world for the better.
