40s Man Arrested for Assaulting Birth Mother to Death Over Money Dispute
[Asia Economy Min Jun-young, Intern Reporter] A woman in her 40s who assaulted her biological mother to death for not providing financial support has been arrested by the police.
The Anyang Dongan Police Station in Gyeonggi announced on the 27th that they have detained and are investigating a woman in her 40s, Ms. A, on charges of injury resulting in death of a direct ascendant.
Ms. A is accused of repeatedly assaulting her 60-year-old biological mother, Ms. B, with a weapon and other means at her cafe located in Dongan-gu, Anyang-si, Gyeonggi Province, from around 12:20 a.m. to 3:20 a.m. on the 24th, causing her death.
According to the police, Ms. A, who was struggling with debt related to running the cafe, requested financial help from Ms. B but committed the crime after being refused.
Ms. B lost consciousness and collapsed eight hours after being assaulted by Ms. A, was taken to the hospital, but ultimately passed away.
It is known that Ms. B’s body showed clear bruises caused by the beating.
During the police investigation, Ms. A reportedly stated, "I have a lot of debt too, but when I asked her to help other relatives, we argued and I got angry, so I did it."
