[Official] 'Mr. Trot' Concert Organizer Files Administrative Lawsuit Against Songpa District Office
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] The producer of the 'Mr. Trot' concert has filed an administrative lawsuit against the Seoul Songpa District Office's assembly ban order.
On the 27th, TV Chosun's 'Mr. Trot' concert production company 'Showplay' stated, "On the 23rd, we filed a provisional injunction to suspend the execution of the assembly ban order and an administrative lawsuit against the Songpa District Office at the Seoul Administrative Court."
On that day, the production company said, "Issuing the assembly ban order three days before the performance is unfair. Who should be held responsible for the damages to private small and medium-sized enterprises and the losses suffered by the audience due to this?" They added, "Concerts by K-pop singers, who have been at the center of the Korean Wave, are currently not receiving attention or even minimal guidelines in all fields including the arts and sports. We filed this lawsuit to raise awareness of this issue, even if just a little."
They continued, "Just like the 'Mr. Trot' concert with over 5,000 seats, the Taesaja concert, which only had 400 seats, was also canceled a day before the performance. For pop concerts, there are demands to stop without any principles or standards, which is expected to lead to the bankruptcy of singers and staff."
They further emphasized, "When many citizens were exhausted due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), 'Mr. Trot' provided much comfort and received a lot of love, but the production company preparing that concert and numerous related companies are currently facing bankruptcy risks due to continuous postponements and cancellations. This does not mean we intend to proceed with the performance, but rather that clear guidelines are necessary."
