Gwangju City Records 1.64 to 1 Competition Rate for Hope Public Job Positions
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 26th that the registration results for participants in the second phase, second round of the citizen public job project, the ‘2020 Gwangju Hope Job Project,’ recorded an average competition rate of 1.64 to 1.
By autonomous district registration status, ▲ Seo-gu recorded the highest competition rate of 1.91 to 1 with 1,531 applicants for 802 recruitment spots, ▲ Buk-gu had 2,150 applicants for 1,194 recruitment spots with a 1.81 to 1 ratio, ▲ Nam-gu had 1,298 applicants for 725 recruitment spots with a 1.8 to 1 ratio, ▲ Gwangsan-gu had 1,522 applicants for 1,123 recruitment spots with a 1.36 to 1 ratio, and ▲ Dong-gu recorded 1.17 to 1 with 549 applicants for 470 recruitment spots.
This project was expanded in connection with the ‘5th Gwangju Metropolitan City Livelihood Stabilization Measures’ and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s Hope Job Project, which decided to hire 12,000 citizens in two phases to stabilize the lives and revive the economy of citizens suffering from the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Gwangju started with recruiting 971 people for five projects in the first phase of the life quarantine sector in April, followed by the second phase with 4,102 people for 10 projects in the first round of the life-type public job project, 4,314 people for 264 projects in this second round, an additional 2,000 senior citizen jobs, and 3,890 private sector jobs, providing a total of about 15,000 jobs by the end of the year.
Selection will be made after each autonomous district reviews applicants’ income, property, and qualification requirements. The final list of selected candidates will be announced on each district office’s website on the 14th of next month and individual notifications will be sent.

Participants will be assigned on-site starting from the 19th of next month and will work 15 to 25 hours per week for 3 to 4 months in five sectors including life quarantine.
