A 70s COVID-19 Patient Dies in Chungnam, First Local Case... Contact with Daejeon Bangpan Related Person
[Asia Economy (Naepo) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] One person infected with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has died in Chungnam. This is the first death case in the region.
According to Chungnam Province on the 26th, a man in his 70s (Chungnam #158, Nonsan #3) who was confirmed positive died while receiving inpatient treatment at Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital around 6 a.m. that day. It was 38 days after he was hospitalized following a COVID-19 diagnosis.
The man was classified as a contact of Daejeon #60 confirmed patient (related to a Daejeon door-to-door sales business) on the 19th of last month and was tested for COVID-19 on the same day, receiving a positive diagnosis.
At that time, the man did not show COVID-19 related symptoms but was found to have underlying conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.
Later, his condition worsened from the evening of the 22nd, and he died while receiving treatment with a ventilator.
Meanwhile, there are currently four patients in isolation in Chungnam, who are either about to be discharged or whose health conditions are improving.
