On the 24th, Ulju-gun, Ulsan, conducted a joint ‘Emergency Situation Simulation Drill for Civil Service Office’ with the police at the county office to prepare for emergencies that may occur during civil service interactions and to create a safe working environment.
This was organized to enhance faster and more systematic response capabilities in the face of frequent recent incidents of verbal abuse and assault by malicious complainants against civil service officials. To prevent extreme situations in advance, the Ulju Police Station participated as if it were a real scenario.
Setting up a scenario of verbal abuse and assault by complainants, the drill followed the civil service complaint response manual to prevent secondary damage to officials and visiting complainants by restraining abuse and assault, recording, reporting to 112, protecting affected officials, and evacuating visiting complainants. The drill was made more effective by simulating the handover of the problematic complainant to the responding police officers.

Lee Seon-ho, the head of Ulju-gun, said, “Indiscriminate verbal abuse and assault by problematic complainants can cause secondary damage not only to officials but also to ordinary citizens, so response training assuming such situations is absolutely necessary.”
