Brazil Reports Over 50,000 New COVID-19 Cases for Three Consecutive Days
[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] Brazil's new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases have exceeded 50,000 for three consecutive days.
According to the Brazilian Ministry of Health on the 24th (local time), the number of new COVID-19 cases was 55,891. This brings the total confirmed cases to 2,343,366.
The new cases were 67,860 on the 22nd and 59,961 the previous day.
The cumulative death toll increased by 1,156 from the previous day to 85,238. Investigations are underway into deaths showing similar symptoms.
Among the total confirmed cases, about 655,000 are currently undergoing treatment, and about 1,592,000 have recovered.
Looking at the COVID-19 status in five metropolitan regions nationwide over the past two weeks, the Southeast and Northeast regions are relatively stable, but the Central-West, North, and South regions are experiencing rapidly increasing damage.
Dividing the country into 27 states, 9 states are seeing an increase in COVID-19 cases, 13 states are showing signs of stabilization, and 5 states are seeing a decrease.
