Hanul Nuclear Power Plant Unit 6 'Planned Preventive Maintenance'... 'Automatic Shutdown' on 19th Brought Forward Ahead of Schedule
Reactor Coolant Pump Suddenly Stops on the 19th, Causing 'Power Shutdown'
Scheduled Preventive Maintenance Conducted Two Weeks Earlier Than Planned
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Dongwook Park] Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters (Head Lee Jongho) announced that it has started the 11th planned preventive maintenance of Hanul Nuclear Power Plant Unit 6 (Pressurized Water Reactor type, 1 million kW class) from the 24th for about 93 days.
During the maintenance period, Hanul Nuclear Power Plant Unit 6 will carry out tasks such as statutory inspections under the Nuclear Safety Act, fuel replacement, and inspection and maintenance of power generation facilities.
Hanul Nuclear Power Plant Unit 6 was in an automatic shutdown state after the reactor coolant pump stopped due to a false signal during PCS card replacement on the 19th. The PCS card is a card that transmits signals to the power plant control system and plays a role in sending stop signals to the reactor coolant pump, etc., in case of abnormal power plant conditions or false signals.
Regarding this sudden shutdown incident, KHNP is known to have advanced the originally scheduled planned preventive maintenance timing for Hanul Nuclear Power Plant Unit 6 by about two weeks.
