Concert with Commentary by Geum Nan-sae, Opening with Saint-Sa?ns' 'Carnival of the Animals'
On the 28th at Chungmu Art Center
[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] The first performance of this year's concert with conductor Geum Nan-sae's commentary, "Classic Fantasia," will be held on the 28th at the Chungmu Art Center.
At the performance on the 28th, the "New World Chamber Orchestra" will perform Camille Saint-Sa?ns' (1835?1921) representative work "The Carnival of the Animals." The New World Chamber Orchestra is composed of principal players from the "New World Philharmonic Orchestra," led by Geum Nan-sae.
"The Carnival of the Animals" is known to have been composed by Saint-Sa?ns in 1886 to be performed at the carnival held in Salzburg, Austria. The piece consists of 14 short movements humorously and satirically depicting the ecology of various animals. It features solo performances by cello, flute, violin, harmonica, piano, and others, accompanied by Geum Nan-sae's commentary. In this performance, 11 of the 14 movements will be played, with soloists Kim Ki-kyung (piano), Yeon Ji-hyung (piano), Yoo Jae-ah (flute), Lee Yoon-seok (harmonica), and Kim Ga-bin (marimba) collaborating.

Classic Fantasia is Chungmu Art Center's representative classical repertoire that began in 2012 under the name "Happy Classic." The performance will proceed under COVID-19 preventive measures such as installation of fever detection cameras, wearing masks, and social distancing with "one seat apart" seating arrangements.
