This plan aims to expand and adjust the medical school quotas, which have been frozen since 2006. The purpose is to resolve the imbalance of medical personnel between regions and to foster specialists in infectious disease response, bio-health fields, and medical scientists.
The government plans to increase the medical school quota by 400 students from the current 3,058 starting from the 2022 academic year, thereby training an additional 4,000 medical professionals over 10 years. The detailed fields for quota increase include ▲ regional doctors who will work in critical and essential medical fields within their regions ▲ special professional fields such as epidemiologists and severe trauma specialists ▲ and the medical science field.
